Events
The Career Center is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between students and employers. We are committed to supporting your career exploration and readiness by helping you engage with high-quality employers offering internship, part-time, and full-time opportunities that align with your goals.
We offer a range of events designed to strengthen your career readiness and connections with industry leaders. These events provide valuable opportunities for building your professional network, understanding your professional identity, and exploring potential career paths.
Mock Interviews
Mock interviews provide students with realistic interview experience in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Conducted by industry professionals or career coaches, these sessions help you practice responding to common interview questions, refine your communication skills, and receive personalized feedback on your performance.
By participating in mock interviews, you will gain confidence, improve your interview technique, and become better prepared for real job interviews. If you’re interested, stop by Tech’s Career Center and ask about the next mock interview event.
Career Fairs
Tech hosts multiple career fairs each year on our Fort Wayne campus, giving you the chance to explore job and internship opportunities while meeting employers face-to-face. Students can view the employers who will be present at a career fair by going to the “Fairs” tab on Handshake. Access our Career Fair Preparation Guide to prepare for an upcoming career fair.
Tech’s typical career fair schedule:
- Part-time Job and Internship Fair – early fall semester
- Engineering and Computer Sciences Career Fair – spring semester
- Business, Health, and Human Services Career Fair – spring semester
Information Tables
An information table is a great way to connect directly with employers and learn about opportunities at their organization. We typically host info tables during lunchtime in the dining hall of Andorfer Commons.
No resume needed. An info table is an opportunity to have a casual conversation with an employer.
Career Compass
As part of Tech’s first-year seminar (IIT 1000: University Experience), new Warriors participate in a career exploration activity hosted by the Career Center. This is all about helping you identify your interests, skills, and values, and then begin connecting them to potential career paths.
Here’s what to expect:
You’ll meet in small groups (4 to 7 students) with local professionals and Indiana Tech alumni. They’ll lead a conversation based on your results from an activity from a prior class and share advice from their real-world experiences.
Why it matters:
- You’ll be able to explore what careers might fit you best.
- You’ll be able to connect with local professionals and alumni.
- You’ll be able to identify what is important to you.
- You’ll build confidence about your future.
Whether you already have a career in mind or are still figuring things out, this activity is designed to empower and inspire you to begin proactively exploring options that align with your interests and values.
